The Alliance for Peacebuilding (AfP) is a nonpartisan network of 130+ organizations working in 181 countries to end violent conflict and sustain peace. Our members include some of the world’s largest development organizations, most innovative academic institutions, and most influential humanitarian and faith-based groups. We build coalitions in key areas of strategy and policy to elevate the entire peacebuilding field, tackling issues too large for any one organization to address alone.
AfP’s 130+ member organizations are working in 181 countries from 2019 - 2020
VISION
Our Vision is a world where each person feels secure, dignified, and included; a world where people build peace and manage conflict without violence.
MISSION
Our Mission is to champion greater peacebuilding influence, impact, and innovation to avert wars, end violence, and save lives.
THEORY OF CHANGE
If we unite as peacebuilders, integrate with sectors beyond our field, prove our impact to policymakers and the public, and create a space for innovative practice, then we can anchor peacebuilding as the tool of first resort in managing conflict.

OUR LINES OF EFFORT
POLICY & ADVOCACY: We advance policy reforms and better programs through evidence-based advocacy.
AfP advocates and educates on behalf of the peacebuilding field to ensure conflict prevention, violence reduction, and peacebuilding evidence produce better policy, programming, and legal frameworks. We work with the U.S. Congress and other lawmaking bodies globally to advocate for peacebuilding priorities in legislation and funding; provide expertise and advise government agencies and donors on peacebuilding and conflict prevention best practices and programs rooted in evidence; and build global coalitions of technical experts through our networks to fill research gaps and showcase innovations.
LEARNING & EVALUATION: We support a more rigorous culture of Design, Monitoring, & Evaluation to generate evidence-based standards.
Through our cutting-edge Learning & Evaluation program, AfP is leading the peacebuilding field to embrace a more rigorous evaluative culture. This requires building capacity to capture high quality, actionable data; encouraging the field to become more evidence-based; and making a stronger case for peace through research efforts to synthesize impact and translate knowledge.
PARTNERSHIPS & CAMPAIGNS: We build strength across sectors to mobilize momentum for peace.
AfP’s Public Partnerships work aims to elevate the public profile of peacebuilding and mobilize broad based public support for peaceful action to reduce conflict and violence. AfP builds partnerships by convening PeaceCon, the largest annual peacebuilding conference in the United States; expanding the professional network for the field; and creating coalitions that drive innovation and advance practical solutions.
